A Father’s Day Prayer…
Dear Lord, we thank you for today. Today is a day where we pause, reflect, and show appreciation to all the fathers (and father figures) who’ve had an impact in our lives. It goes without saying that the fathers in our lives are or were not perfect. What matters is that they were present enough in our lives to have an impact that You Lord have used to glorify Yourself in us, ultimately for spiritual growth.
Our fathers may have led us directly to you Jesus, through godly leadership, or may have driven us indirectly to You because of various circumstances. Either of these have shown us our great need for You oh Lord. In whatever ways our path was laid to our relationship in You as our Heavenly Father, our relationships with our earthly fathers should be recognized and celebrated in some way shape or fashion, because of your great sovereignty for placing them in our lives. For that, we praise You and we thank You!
As we are now fathers with our own children, let us also celebrate this life that You’ve given us with them as we appreciate them. The Bible is rich with challenging us as men to be present and active in our kids’ lives. Let us give them our focus, attention, leadership, and guidance in the Lord not as perfect men, but as present men. Grant us a godly legacy that promotes and grows Your kingdom in ways that You would be pleased. In Jesus’ name we pray!
