BE MARRIAGE FOCUSED

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church.” (Ephesians 5:31-32 ESV)

MARRIAGE

The Bible Defines Marriage as a Covenant between a man and a woman, created by God.

The marriage ceremony, therefore, is meant to be a public demonstration of a couple’s commitment to a covenant relationship.

This demonstrates that both husband and wife sees marriage as more than just a physical and emotional union, but also as a solemn oath between each other and God. This is demonstrated by the first man and woman, Adam and Eve, as highlighted in scriptures below.

“So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made2:22 Hebrew built into a woman and brought her to the man. Then the man said, “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.” Genesis 2:21-25 ESV

FOCUSED

The word “focus” means “a point upon which attention, activity, etc. is directed or concentrated . . . to fix attention on; concentrate” (Collins Dictionary).

Another definition is, “The adjustment of the eye or a lens necessary to produce a clear image. A state of clear definition. The centre of interest or activity” (Oxford Dictionary).

Jesus Christ, the Bridegroom, the author and finisher of our faith, the creator of marriage, is who we focus on. We are to be His bride and as such, it is His image that we are to bear. Our purpose is to strive to keep our eyes focused upon Jesus and look to Him for our purpose in our marriage.

“looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2 ESV

Our Conviction

We believe God is the author and creator of marriage. He has given us this special gift of marriage between a man and a woman as modeled by the first marriage between Adam and Eve. We believe that The Church is the Bride of Jesus Christ and marriage reflects that relationship with Christ and His Church. We cannot neglect the most important human relationship on this side of heaven. The Bible is a love letter to us, His Bride. So we focus on Jesus Christ and His relationship with us, so that our marriages can reflect His image, for His glory. Regardless of the brokenness in your marriage, we can turn our eyes on Him, so that when we see our spouses and when they look at us, we both see Him.

Our Affiliations

We may engage and become affiliated with both secular and non-secular organizations in order to accomplish our purposes of reaching marriage focused couples for encouragement. Our affiliations are in no way a full reflection of our Christian values and convictions. Those third parties and our organization public and private views are thus mutually exclusive from all intents and purposes, regardless of any similarities or differences, unless clearly stated. We reserve the right to promote or advertise any organization we choose for any specific or mutual interest we deem fit for the purpose of advancing the goals of our organization, whether stated publically or privately.

Our Morality Clause

We, the founders and leaders of Marriage Focused, believe it is imperative that our actions are above reproach in all things, as bound in sound biblical doctrine, and under the authority of the local church. We will remain subject to our local church body and remain in good membership standing based on established standards. We aim to abide by biblical moral standards of conduct and communication. Any violation of these standards are regarded as serious and may result in the closure of our organization.

Our Statement of Faith

We believe the Bible is the inspired, the infallible, authoritative Word of God.

We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.

We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration of the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential, by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone.

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
